Diverse and Intriguing Architecture in Australia: House 14

House 14 was designed by architect Dane Richardson and is located in Eagle Bay, Australia. Its uncommon geometry makes for an original looking residence, one that is both modern and highly functional. Here is more from the official architect’s description: “The north facing terrace with its built in fire box is the focus of all outside entertaining. The open fire box provides a fantastic place to sit and star gaze in the evening. The planning divides the building into three wings. Childrens bedrooms, guest room, bathroom and games/tv room to the western side. The master bedroom and study to the eastern side and the main living volume & court yard central to these wings. Cantilevers and exposed structural elements feature and further add to the strong lines of the building. Upper levels provide shelter for lower levels.” The home also features sustainable features, such as the possibility to collect all potable water and low energy use systems.

Beaver Street Reprise, Dashing Design and Architecture

Craig Steely Architecture is a studio based in San Francisco that combines “formal elegance with classic modernist tradition”. Beaver Street Reprise is said to be “a conceptually modern house that fits contextually into a Victorian neighborhood”. We think this projects is daring and stands out due to its beautiful wooden exterior design and the dashing indoor arrangements. Bright colors, amazing furniture and decorations contribute to the distinctive personality that this residence obviously has. A few elements draw attention, such as the suspended fireplace or the unusual coffee table. Beaver Street Reprise houses an all-equipped apartment, an office, a wide living area, and a deck. Definitely a nice way to embrace contemporaneity in design.

This beautiful mountain cottage comes from Canadian team Blouin Tardif Architecture and is located in Quebec, Canada. The surrounded forest makes for some picturesque views and the large, floor to ceiling windows fully take advantage of the privileged landscape. The interior design is clean, simple and suited for a mountain chalet with an open attitude towards contemporary arrangements. Small Vacation House with a Twisted Architecture in USA

Located in Mountain West, USA, this twisted architecture project- and “twisted” can only be used in a positive way on Freshome- belongs to project team Bhujon Kang and was conducted by William OBrien Jr., Here is some relevant information from the architects concerning the structure of the design: “The house links three horizontal extrusions of leaning, or asymmetrical A-frames. The skinny A-frame on the western side contains the library, wine cellar and garage. The wide A-frame in the center of the house is dedicated to two floors of bedrooms and bathrooms. The medium A-frame on the eastern side consists of living, kitchen and dining areas. The house aims to undermine the seeming limitations of a triangular section by augmenting and revealing the extreme proportion in the vertical direction, and utilizing the acutely angled corners meeting the floor as moments for thickened walls, telescopic apertures and built-in storage.” Due to its original shape, the interior is particularly interesting and features unexpected furniture shapes-via Arch Daily
