Surface chair

This product is an evolution of the Surface Table, a collaboration between designer Terence Woodgate and famed Formula One designer John Barnard. The same materials and processes define the supreme strength and slim, elegant form. The chair’s slender profile and highly polished finish reveal the structure of this exceptional material inherent in layered carbon fiber. Terence Woodgate and John Barnard

New from Kontextür

Last year we featured Kontextr’s acrylic shower curtain rings. Now, Kontextr is back with two brand new collections: a line of couture shower curtains designed by the talented British textile artist, Kaniez Abdi, that incorporate environmentally-friendly materials such as TPU and a series of sculptural, organic-shaped toothbrush holders designed by the NYC-based Icelandic designer Hlynur Atlason.

Designed by the NYC-based Icelandic designer, Hlynur Atlason, the VIKTOR collection features a set of three toothbrush/razor holders available in three metal finishes – black nickel, real silver and 18k gold. Each holder is distinctly sculptural and beautifully detailed yet fulfills a functional niche. Pricing starts at $45.

The company’s first line of couture shower curtains is designed by the award-winning British textile designer Kaniez Abdi. The collection includes four distinct designs made with high-quality materials such as bamboo, tulle and taffeta and finished with traditional cut and sew techniques. Two of the curtain designs, Happiness and Color-coded, also use TPU – a high-performance, recyclable plastic that is much more environmentally friendly than PVC. Pricing starts at $150.

Lamps from ONA

ONA sent us over two lamps from their collection, Luzzle and Chromosoma. The first lamp, Luzzle, is designed by Ana Blay and it’s integrated by several modules in a jigsaw puzzle shape that can be fitted in different ways to achieve the desired shape. It is made from polyethylene in colors red, black and white. The design of the second lamp, Chromosoma by Javier Alejandre, revolves around the creation of a genealogical tree.

Old Phone Clock Design, Milan 2010

Remember these phones? Well, for the ones who don’t, this is what we used to use in the 20 th century src='http://freshome.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' title="Old Phone Clock Design, Milan 2010" /> This idea we saw at Milan was the only one to bring as back in time, as every other design reflected opulence and modernity. Which is why we picked it as a display item for today. The clock is placed where the dialing numbers used to be which we consider to be quite cool. This could always work as a museum-like home item and a definite guest puzzler. We imagine this is the only version of the unusual clock, but we think it would be interesting for it to become produced at a large scale. Sure, Eastern European countries would not go for such a design, but perhaps it would work in technology saturated environments.
